"For the 7.85-inch panel, there's a strategic business plan for it, there is a mass manufacturing goal for it. And we are aware that it is for Apple," Richard Shim, an NPD DisplaySearch analyst, said to CNET.
"I do not know the title for the product, having said that I know it will be a tablet," he said.
NPD DisplaySearch speaks to businesses in the "supply chain" -- firms that create the parts and create products.
And Shim stated development is probably forthcoming. "Everything is being set up. We know the particular lines. We all know just how many panels are likely to come out of the sheets of glass."
Having said that, Shim added that certitude will be elusive until he has confirmation that production has in fact begun. Of course, nobody is going to know precisely when that might be. There will be a great deal of hype around that product.
