I would do a review of the Kindle Fire 3G but Amazon has not created 3G for the Kindle Fire not just yet. The Kindle D00901 model is now called the Kindle Keyboard 3G.
So you will have to settle for the Kindle Keyboard 3G, Free 3G. But I don't consider this settling unless you want an e-reader with the functionality of a tablet. For this, you will need to get the Kindle HD 7" or its latest model.
The Kindle Keyboard 3G or Kindle D00901 is $159 and it is well worth it if you are an avid reader. It has fast page refresh and navigation speed.
When you move the cursor around the screen, you can select things so much easier. When the rocker button is used, the cursor moves without hesitation.
All kindle models use e-Ink technology including this one. E-Ink gives a better contrast on the screen. You really notice the difference when you read in rooms with low light.
Eye-strain is not an issue with the kindle and battery performance is not too shabby. The battery can last 7 to 10 days on one charging session if the wireless is left on but if you turn it off, you won't need to charge the kindle for a few weeks.
It only weighs 8.5oz; so you can read for a couple of hours with one hand without feeling any arm fatigue.
This model has some MP3 features. If you like the iPod shuffle, then you won't mind this. The web browsing feature is as about as limiting as the MP3 player.
This model is not meant for heavy web browsing but it will do in a pinch. Reading and downloading PDFs from your PC to the Kindle is not a hassle at all on this model.
When reading PDFs, I found that increasing the zoom to 150% and reading it sideways works best. Use the arrow keys to scroll down the page and when you want to move to the next page, just press the "next" on the device.
Amazon has at least four different versions of e-readers. It depends on your preference which model is right for you. The Kindle Paper-white 3G, 6" High Resolution model is one of those versions and it costs $179.
The black bezel on the Paper-White shows fingerprints, which I am not found of. The Paper-White reads just like a book; and the text reads clean and crisp on the screen just as the Kindle Keyboard reads.
This model does not have the page back buttons like it is on the Kindle Keyboard. I miss this feature because the touch screen technology the Paper-white uses is a little slow at times when it comes to turning pages.
The Kindle Keyboard has back page buttons. When you touch the screen, it feels as if you are touching a page in a book. This is a nice touch by Amazon giving you that enhanced reading experience.
Other users of the Kindle Paper-white have complained about the storage space. I have no complaints. I have enough stored for years to come and if I need more space, there is always the Kindle Cloud to store extra content.
The battery life is good on this model. You can get eight weeks on a single charge if you read a half hour each day. So, if you read more than this, you will only get a few weeks in between charges.
The Paper-white has a reading time feature that lets you know how long it takes to read a chapter based on how fast you read. Some users love this but I can take it or leave it.
The Paper-white lights up nicely because of its front-lit screen. With this model, you don't need a lighted case which is nice. The light shows up evenly across the screen and there are settings to adjust the degree of light according to your preference.
The web browsing feature is basically no different than on the Kindle D00901. These two models are e-readers but they come with slightly different features. You have to know what you want then match that e-reader to your needs.
