Choose The Best Server

By Jack Wogan

Whether we like to admit it or not, we are dependent of computers and the internet. Every major system is controlled by a computer. The general idea is to eliminate human error by replacing the human element with a computer that can make millions of calculations in a second, a computer that works nonstop, never gets tired or hungry and never makes any mistakes. Because of the technology, computers are getting smaller and smaller every day and they make our life easier in our jobs and in our personal lives.

Anything and everything we want to know is just a few clicks and buttons away no matter the subject. Communicating with people all over the world has become a trivial task. Those are few of the major achievements of the internet. We can pay bills or buy products online in just a few seconds. When you look at it from this perspective the internet saves us a lot of time, time we can use doing something else.

You know how to use your computer to do your work or to navigate the internet and that is probably the extent of your knowledge. For more there is the IT guy. That is who you call when you have problems with your computer. You do not need or want to know how everything works, you just want it to work as best as possible.

You have probably heard of servers. They are computers or programs that control network resources. It is a vague definition, but then again the word server covers a wide range of activities. You can use dedicated servers that will run only one program and will fulfil only one purpose. You can use a server to manage more than one task. Of course, all the running processes will have to share the server's resources. You could even use more than one server. It all depends on your needs and on how much money you are willing to invest into them.

Buying a new server is a big decision. You need to be very careful not to make a bad decision. There are many factors that have to be considered and they are all important. You should know if the server's configuration will meet your needs. If it does not, your productivity will diminish. You should always look for something that exceeds your current needs and that will allow future upgrades in case your business expands.
