Taking A Look At Windows Azure - Options And More

By Martin Rolee

A lot of people have assumed Microsoft as the 'less capable cloud service provider'. This really is a myth. It is amongst the world's most misunderstood cloud service providers. To the younger age bracket who were brought up with open source languages for example Ruby plus Python, in addition to preferred training including java training classes, Azure appears to be not capable of handling languages save for .NET and C#. But that's not the case. Microsoft's cloud service has long been working with languages which include Ruby, Python, PHP as well as Java for a while now and has achieved a certain degree of proficiency.

Microsoft continues to be moving forward with a goal in order to confirm itself as being a top cloud service provider. But the main obstacle it has been facing has been the unwillingness of companies to accept it though it may be providing high quality products and services. A general opinion is actually established in the Silicon Valley that Microsoft isn't a cloud service provider and this particular tag is costing Microsoft quite a bit.

There have been a couple of takers for Microsoft's Azure and one of those, Jeremy Howard, seems to be highly happy with the service. When he first opted for Azure, some people scoffed at him and a few even wanted to teach him Java (he is well versed in more than 16 coding languages). But he says there's almost nothing like C# and the man is totally happy to put it to use as even Azure supports JAVA.

Yet another organization which made a move to Azure was Movideo, a mainly Java centric company. Its CEO, Tony McGinn said that even though there were several initial adjustments needed to adopt their services to Azure, it was more than worth it. James claimed that the adjustment required was more of a manual revamp practice with not very much innovation and only using the proven method.

For that reason, should you be one of those young guys that have taken up Python, Ruby, .NET in addition to java instructional courses and searching for a cloud service provider, make sure you take a good and unprejudiced look at Microsoft's Azure before making the very last judgment.
