Portable Speakers For MP3 Players

By Louis Fernandez

MP3s are usually made for use with headphones and seldom players have a built-in speaker in them. The fact that some people want to listen to music without having headphones or earphones in their ears caused the invention of portable speakers for MP3 players. The result was a huge range of speakers that would be available in the market to make all the different consumers happy.

Although these speakers come in a variety of sizes, they are comparatively smaller in size on an average, thereby providing the convenience of being portable.

Portable speakers for mp3 players that are not very expensive, generally make use of batteries that need to be replaced with fresh ones once they are exhausted. Alternatively, the USB port of a computer or a laptop can be used to recharge certain models of speakers.

By their very nature, smaller speakers are not suitable for playing music for a large audience. They basically serve the purpose of listening to music on a softer note while you are out at a beach or are in conversation with your friends. Even people living in dormitories can resort to these speakers. However, a good sound coverage is a limitation posed by these speakers as they cannot be placed very far away from each other.

The diameter of the woofer of most portable speakers for mp3 players is about an inch only. Although the power consumption of portable speakers is on the lower side than what one may expect it to be, there is a limitation on the bass effect of sounds emanated by these speakers when compared to those produced by larger ones. Portable mp3 player speakers that produce greater bass quality sound effects with subwoofers too, are available in plenty. However, they are certainly more expensive and larger as far as sizes go.

Companies like Creative, Bose, Sony and Altec Lansing are considered pioneers in the field of portable speakers for mp3 players. The quality of sound produced by these speakers is excellent and they prove very effective when the need is to cater to a large audience or simply for enjoying music loudly within the comforts of your own home.

If you can afford to, you can buy some portable speakers that can match the bass and sound performance of normal speakers also with minimum distortion. As again, these speakers with very good sound performance are usually more expensive.

One can know about the various models of speakers and features thereof by searching online using search engines for related information.
