The Thrilling Ideas Of Battlestar Galactica

By Audie C. Bosco

There are lots of science fiction franchises that have managed to hold on to popularity for many years, including Battlestar Galactica. The popularity of this story and the characters of it began in the late 1970's when the show was first broadcast on television and, although it was only on air for a short time, was well received. Science fiction is a polarizing genre because some people are uninterested by the idea of delving into thoughts of what a futuristic universe would be like and what alien races humans may be interacting with. The stories of science fiction really come to life for fans of this genre when the people making the games, movies, or television shows use elements of everyday life and attach them to the futuristic worlds they create.

The basic story of Battlestar Galactica is that of the struggles between the Humans and the Cylon, the latter of which have banished the humans from their home planet. Characters from this story resonate with fans because of their search for home and the struggles they face along the way. The real stars of BG are not the spaceships used to fight battles or the planets that are visited along the way, but instead the people who are facing very normal struggles in their efforts to survive and to find a new home.

Fighter jets, huge residential ships, and massive battle ships are all featured extensively in Battlestar Galactica since the series takes place entirely in space. Fans of science fiction like to dream of what it would be like to live on a spaceship that is constantly traveling through the farthest reaches of the universe. While modern space flight is still in its infancy, sci-fi writers have come up with all kinds of amazing ideas about what the future of space travel may be like and these ideas are well represented in BG.

Fans that want to truly experience what it would be like to exist in this kind of science fiction universe can do so by playing video games that use the same characters, worlds, and vehicles found in the television show. Sharing in the events of your preferred science fiction stories can be quite exciting.

Battlestar Galactica has earned a permanent place in the history of science fiction franchises and continues to gain fans. The story is kept alive through video games that use the same characters to allow players the chance to take part in BG's events and battles.
