How To Keep Your Printer In A Good Working Condition

By Casper Vivianodeni

Printers are important for students and professional alike. These days, it is common practice to produce printed documents in schools and in the workplace. For this reason, printer owners must know the best way to keep their printers in top shape. Here are some tips on making sure that your printer will last long.

Keep the user manual and the printer installer close to the printer

Most printer owners don't give much importance to the installer DVD and the user manual when the printer is up and running. Keep them in a familiar place because you never know when you might need them again. It is ideal if you keep those two near the printer.

The installer and the user manual may come in handy when there are repairs that should be done with the hardware. If you reformatted your PC for example, you may need to install the software for the printer again for it to function. The user manual is also important to have somewhere near in case you have troubleshooting questions in the near future.

Use the proper ink cartridge in refilling the ink

There are many cheap ink refills available in the market but not all of them are safe for your printer. The manufacturer prescribed cartridges are the best choice to use if you can afford them. If you are planning to use a cheaper alternative you should research about the ink properly before using because some ink types may cause harm to your printer. Ask testimonials from your fellow printer owners who had experiences with the said product to make sure it is safe and reliable.

Keep it covered if it is idle for a long time

Dust may damage the printer if it accumulates inside the printer's body. In long breaks such as the holidays, during summer vacations or if you are moving to another location, keep the printer safe from being infiltrated by dust particles by covering it or by storing it in its box with the Styrofoam protection.
