Inferno is a large step up belonging to the Hell difficulty for a number of reasons. Your resistances really matter the first time when you reach Inferno. Elemental and various other non-physical damage types will likely be coming to you at a variety of sources. Just having high armor or vitality statistics will not be enough to really make it through inferno.

Without massive variety of resistances you will be spending the vast majority of your time and efforts waiting to recover. Another reason Inferno is so difficult is that the unique and champion mobs have 4 properties on them.

It is not uncommon to find a band of champion mobs with a property combination like jailer, vortex, arcane, desecrator. These big combinations can cause huge difficulties for players, sometimes forcing them to reload this game and expect a different combination.

The video game shifts rapidly into really a team dynamic if you reach Inferno. It is simply too tough to push forward alone considering the increased difficulty. With the help of other players, you can work with each other to combat the largest challenges Diablo 3 has to offer in its new Inferno Difficulty setting.
