Getting A Web Development Company

By Mark Winner

When it comes to choosing a good web agency, there are many misconceptions that I often see people making. I will mostly focus on the one mistake that I have found to be the most common and have found to lead to less than optimal choices in a web-development-company.

By far the most irrational misconception I have noticed is where some people feel that they should hire a WDC that resides in their city. While this seems to make "intuitive" sense, the truth is that it has almost no practical advantage. In fact, if you use this as your criteria, you might end up over-paying, especially if you live in a big city.

Don't get me wrong, if you looked into several hundred companies, and then shortened your list to 3 companies that deliver the best value-for-your buck, and one happens to be in your city, then pick that one. But don't do what I've seen many owners do and preferring the lower quality, more expensive company, just because it happened to be close to them physically.

When it comes to web development, you do not even need to make many phone calls, let alone have much of a need to meet these people in real life. This is an internet based venture, and hence, your only interest is their internet presence, their internet work and their quality and pricing.

And even big corporations do it this way! Believe it or not, many of them hire people from East Asia and just hire folks from the internet, and get them to do tasks and pay them per finished task or project. They don't care that the human doing it is half across the globe. When it comes to things of this nature that's completely irrelevant!
